Stephanie A. Urchick
RI President 2024/25
Monthly Theme for June 2025
Rotary Fellowships
The June 2025 RDU is out, and many will now be reading its interesting
articles. Quite a range of Rotary Fellowships are covered. In Stephanie's short article, 'The best is yet to come', she says to us all, "Family of Rotary, there is nothing we cannot achieve when we come together and work towards a common goal..... We are closer than ever to ending polio, but that does not mean we can relax. We still have a promise to keep to the children of the world and their families, and we will only fulfill that promise through fundraising, advocacy and the power of our collective action... Rotary offers friendship, purpose and belonging, if we hold true to our ideals - to The Four-Way Test and our spirit of inclusivity - we will remain a beacon of light even in the darkest times.... You are 'The Magic of Rotary" and I can't wait to see the lasting change you bring to the world."

Guest Speaker Tegan Carpenter
The applause from those present recognised the outstanding talk
given by Tegan Carpenter with a big Thank You for being our Guest Speaker. President Steve handed her the usual certificate which states, "In your name we have made a donation of $25 to The Rotary Foundation campaign to eradicate polio from the world". Tegan was so impressed with the certificate she made a further donation of $100 towards Rotary's End Polio Now.

A Special message from R.I. President Stephanie Urchick
Family of Rotary:
President-elect Mario Cesar Martins de Camargo has notified
me of his decision to resign from the position of Rotary President for
2025-26. I can't say enough about Mario's 45 years of service to our
organization and the tremendous pride his nomination created among
Brazilian Rotary members. I am certain Mario will continue to contribute
to Rotary's work around the world.
Thank you Mario and Denise for your dedication to Rotary. You
have the support and appreciation of members world over.
The New World President is Francesco Arezzo
Francesco a Rotarian for more than 30 years is a member of the Rotary Club of Ragusa, Italy and has been selected by the Board of Directors to become Rotary International's president for 2025/26. The board conducted a special session following the unexpected resignation of RI President-elect Mario on the 8th June 2025.
The Theme of UNITE FOR GOOD remains.

President Steve's Snippets
Where Have the Past Twelve Months Gone?
It’s hard to believe how quickly the past year has flown by!
A sincere thank you to the Rotary Club of Barossa Valley for giving me the privilege of serving as your President over this past Rotary year. It is an honour to lead such a passionate and committed group of people.
To our dedicated Board, thank you for making things happen:
Brian Barnett for providing invaluable continuity,
Mark Graetz for keeping the books in order (among many other things),
Sue Graetz for her steady focus on membership,
Keith Millington for once again chairing a successful Airshow,
David West for his contributions, and his famous Sticky Date Pudding,
Karen Bosomworth for her commitment to community and incredible social evenings,
Peter Thomas for all things clothing bins and International,
Prue Maitland for her natural gift in working with youth,
Grant Schuyler for his stewardship of our Foundation,
James Dunn, who is warming up for his turn in the President’s chair,
and
Sandie Simons, Immediate Past President and our tireless Secretary, your tenacity, organisation, and ability to keep us all (especially me) on track, is invaluable.
To the many others who work behind the scenes, whether it’s rostering clothing bins, manning sausage sizzles, supporting youth initiatives, or helping our Foundation, thank you for your tireless efforts. This club is fortunate to have such a strong community of doers.
Let’s also take a moment to remember those who are no longer with us and the legacy they’ve left in helping to shape this club. And to those who wish they could contribute more but, for good reason, cannot, please know that your presence still matters. Every contribution counts. Even simply attending a meeting is a valuable act of support.
Thank you again, and I look forward to what lies ahead under James' leadership. With the collective strength of our club, I have no doubt the coming year will be even better.
Kind Regards,
|

JUST A THOUGHT
Age doesn't always bring wisdom. A lot of the time age turns up all by itself.
