We all wish President Peter a quick recovery from a nasty bout of Covid. Joanne also copped it but perhaps not as bad as Peter. He said it has been energy sapping as well as feeling tired. He told me it hit him about a week or so ago. The prescribed tablets have been a benefit and today he was able spend a few hours in the garden. He hopes to be able to return to Rotary in 2-3 weeks.
Barb Hallion
John Semmler handed a lovely thankyou card from Barb Hallion to Secretary Sandie following her serious illness. Barb is on the mend and says thank you to all for the get well and best wishes. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated.
Geoff Zerk
I phoned Geoff a few days ago. I hadn't been in touch with him for quite a while. I asked him how Rose was getting along. Sadly, she is still suffering badly from pains in the head. The medical profession has tried everything to find a solution to her illness. Geoff said there may be a little light at the end of the tunnel. They have met up with a young Asian Doctor working at the RAH who practices different methods and treatments outside the square. The doctor has indicated to them that he prefers to do MRIs differently when dealing with head traumas. Rose will be meeting with him in the near future. We pray that his methods will be of a huge benefit to Rose.
Gavin & Lifen
Hot off the press via PDG Peter Thomas. Speaking with Gavin yesterday Lifen is 13 weeks pregnant carrying a little boy. They are both feeling very proud. We wish them all the best.

Guest Speaker - Gerri Walker Principal NHS.
Guest Speaker Gerri Walker was introduced to the gathering by member Prue Maitland, also a seasoned educator over many years. Gerri's presentation was outstanding. She listed all of the various activities and structures that have made the school what it is today. Several of our members who were students and teachers would have felt proud of their own involvement in the growth of the school as it stands.

SCARECROWS and GROB
We need some help with a couple of things.
The Scarecrows need finishing off and installing. Some buttons for eyes, a triangle of cloth for a nose and some artistic ability to draw on a mouth. If you have a pair of swim goggles for the Wing Walker and the Pilot it would be good.
We will install them on the edge of the vineyard opposite the Jacobs Creek Visitor Centre when we have finished the Scarecrow faces. Installing them will involve knocking in a star dropper to lash the Biplane pole, and digging small holes for the scarecrows to stand in. We have got permission to use the land from the owners.
The Grob project will require:
Painting the Grob now that it has been cleaned
Sticking some decals on it.
Mounting it on a frame with wheels so we can move it easily to the best location.
Design sketches are in place, we need some people to assist with the work in getting the design to reality.
I will send out emails later on with dates when we have them.

Airshow Committee
Our second Airshow is not far away. The Scarecrows and the Grob are a great idea. We are hoping for a large attendance of all ages. We can promote this event by inviting family, friends, neighbours now together with members of all Rotary Clubs in District 9510.

Members, may remember reading the article on Satellite Clubs in bulletin 3286 issued on 23rd October 2022.
At a special meeting held at the Vine Inn on October 13th, twenty Rotarians, and three guests attended. DGE Craig Dowling from the Loxton Club, had already provided information to members wanting to understand the advantages of having a Satellite Club.
The Rotary Club of Loxton didn’t start out to establish a Satellite club, they were just trying to increase their membership initially. However, as they worked through the process it soon became evident that a Satellite club could be the better option, particularly when people pointed out the reasons why they didn’t want to join Rotary, and it was realised that by removing those barriers, they could still recruit more members, just in a different way.
New Rotary Club
As bulletin editor I noted a recent article by Mark Huddleston. I would think that many Rotarians would know Mark as a dynamic Rotarian who has spoken at many conferences and meetings. The photo below might ring a few bells.
Mark Huddleston
Well known Rotarian Mark Huddleston, Edwardstown Club, says he is feeling excited. "Last night I had the wonderful experience of talking to the Lightsview Rotary Provisional Club. Having started (with considerable help from some amazing people) the last new Rotary Club in District 9510 (then 9520), I believe another new club is well overdue! I congratulate the brave and bold Rotarians and community leaders who are working on this exciting new venture, and sincerely hope they get all the support they need to charter in the near future. It has been my strong belief that the only way Rotary will ever grow is by chartering new clubs. The districts around the world that have grown have all done so through new club start-ups.
It was a pleasure to share the 5 Success Secrets of the Rotary Club of Seaford, which has been recognised internationally for its innovation and vibrancy.
- Less meeting – more doing/focus on HANDS ON projects
- Flexible meeting platform
- Low cost base to members
- Aggressive promotion
- Effective partnerships
But the most important tip I shared was the importance of being different. By offering a different style of Rotary to that which is currently available in the region, they WILL attract volunteers that are currently not attracted to traditional Rotary. If anyone knows of potential members in Adelaide’s northern suburbs who might be interested in a modern, contemporary, flexible, family friendly version of Rotary; maybe a former exchange student or youth program participant, please put them in touch with my mate Stephany Martin. I’m so looking forward to an invite to a charter event soon!"
