Second Chances
We were informed of the plight of children and families of prisoners by Helen Glanville from Second Chances, a charity set up to help the families of prisoners. Children of prisoner parents are 7 times more likely to go to prison when compared to other children. If the family is indigenous, then the probability moves to 21 times more likely to serve a term in gaol.
Second Chances reach out to these families to assist them in managing their lives and to provide a means of avoiding falling into problems that may result in a term in prison.

Sergeants
With a new Rotary year, we have had a few changes. There are vacancies for Sergeants so now is your opportunity to contribute to a vital part of the clubs operation.
The Sergeant has the responsibility of managing the meeting, keeping things flowing, maintaining order and ensuring the meeting runs to time. It is not a job for everybody, but those that take it on usually enjoy the experience.
The Sergeants session can be daunting for some and it does need some preparation before the meeting, but remember it is also a light-hearted session that allows time for members to contribute good news, have a brag session, tell a personal anecdote or even admit to a minor indiscretion. Funds raised by the Sergeant go into the Club Operating account which helps with the running expenses of the club and can reduce the club fees.
If you have an outgoing personality, a good sense of humour,  are able to give and take a dig in the ribs in fun and have a good speaking voice then maybe the sergeant's job is for you.
If you are interested, contact Keith M on 0418856569.
